Concert Review: Ecto Cooler at Belly Up Aspen

Unless you live In Colorado or California, Ecto Cooler may be a name you aren’t familiar with, we recommend that you check him out! Derek Finn is Ecto Cooler, currently based out of LA and a live act well worth seeing. In the past, Ecto has played events such as Global Dance Festival and performed with acts like Skrillex, JFK, and Wolfgang Gartner just to name a few. We got the chance to catch his first headlining show at Belly Up in Aspen, a venue he is no stranger to. Derek has warmed up this unique club multiple times in the past year, including opening for Zeds Dead the night before his own show. Both nights he was impressive as always yet given more time and freedom on the 23rd made that set much better. Ecto Cooler sets always bring a well crafted mix of electro, house, dubstep, mashups, and many other forms of EDM, and most importantly a large amount of energy. Of all of the dj’s and producers I have seen, big or small, Ecto Cooler is still one of the most energetic. He truly enjoys every second of performing and every reaction from the crowd, which makes for an awesome atmosphere. Belly Up, being a smaller venue, only added to that feel, set up in a way that the artist can easily see and interact with everyone. Ecto pulled everyone towards the dance floor, where they didn’t stop dancing till the last second of the set. If you have a chance to see him any time soon you will be in for a great night, be sure to check out Ecto Cooler on Facebook and the upcoming Belly Up Calendar. Album Review – Wolfgang Gartner: Weekend In America

Wolfgang Gartner being one of my favorite EDM artists, I have long been awaiting the release of his new album. “Weekend In America” is an explosive, speaker tearing,  force of an album. Wolfgang once again influences the electronic music world with his individual sound and masterful production. Including artists like Eve, Will.I.Am and Jim Jones, Wolfgang differentiates himself yet again, giving the album an upbeat hip hop sound  unlike any other you have heard before. The album includes the already renowned tracks Space junk, Illmerica, and Menage A Trois, and my personal favorite, The Way It Was. Some of you may recognize this song from his Bob Marley edit, Sun Is Shinning. Overall I would rate this release top 3 of the year as far as albums are concerned. Enjoy Wolfgang Gartner’s “Weekend In America,” a heavy synthed, bass thumping,  and truly inspiring representation of EDM, PrivateParty.

Thursday Night Thumpers

On this magnificent evening of rage, Remix-Nation will (hopefully) be celebrating the 11,000 likes mark on Facebook. Because of this milestone I feel the pressure and the need to produce a phenomenal set of Thumpers for our amazing fans. Lets start out with a bang, no warm up nonsense, just a track from a man named Wolfgang. I was going to make a separate post just for this track and then I realized it is the definition of a Thumper, Wolfgang Gartner’s Menage A Trois. Of all the shows I have been to in my life, no one puts out as much bass, as much intensity, and as much madness as Wolfgang Gartner, those of you at EDC with me, who were lucky enough to hear this track know what I’m saying. Moving on with the Thumpers, Michael Woods newest release Bullet, a great progressive tune, and a Daft Punk remix from Nicky Romero full of bounce. Hardwell mashes up two summer hits, Ready 2 Go X Beautiful People, taking the best parts of each track, blending them together to create a smoothie I like to call dance!  Take You Higher, from Goodwill & Hook N Sling just makes me feel good and may be a nice follow up to all that Dada. Enjoy a new release from both Mau5 Trap’s Feed Me and Savoy, both dubbie tunes. I’m pooped after all this musical greatness, feeling like I performed under the pressure and hopefully y’all agree. Thanks to each and every fan, PrivateParty!

New Dubstep

I have to post this classic Wolfgang Gartner track because he absolutely killed it in Denver on friday night for his encore. Can’t wait for his  CD to be released and hopefully some live sets. Never been to a show that loud in my life. The Nation respects that Wolfgang.

Thursday Night Thumpers

Remarkably this is the 29th edition of Thursday Night Thumpers. It might not be a milestone like 50 or 100, but I’ll get there eventually. All I know is, thats 29 Thursdays full of  my favorite music,  spectacular music. As a present to myself, and my fellow Nation goers, a list of TNT’s that I believe are top quality, I’m going to say top 3 all time. Hard hitting Electro from Adam K, R3hab, and Markus Schulz. Top quality House from Arno Cost & Michael Feiner, Bingo Players, and Wolfgang Gartner.  The House tracks, they make me want to party, let me know if they get your blood groovin’. Wolfgang Gartner Ft. Will.I.Am- Forever

Last week, Wolfgang leaked his new radio song titled “Forever”, featuring Will.I.Am. To be honest, I was originally expecting the song to be terrible. Only for one reason though, and that reason centers around Will.I.Am’s vocals in the entire song. The first few times I listened to it, I started to focus my attention away from the vocals and paid more attention to Wolfgang in the background. The song itself is awesome and the beat is out of this world. Hopefully he releases the original mix soon! After listening to this several times, I have to admit that it has started to grow on me. This song will definitely be lighting up dance floors everywhere, so make sure to grab it!!
