Friday, May 25: Tiësto kicks off the holiday weekend in style with his residency return at the Friday night party. Voted “The Greatest DJ of All Time” by Mixmag, Tiësto has racked up countless achievements from Grammy nominations to securing the record for the largest single DJ show in U.S. history at Home Depot Stadium in 2011. He recently launched his own radio channel on Sirius XM called Tiësto’s Club Life Radio. He will also release his highly anticipated mix album “Club Life Volume Two Miami” in April.
Saturday, May 26: XS will show that size does matter when Steve Angello brings his Size Matters party to the Saturday night soiree with AN21 and Max Vangeli. AN21 and Vangeli were both dubbed as two of the “Top 5 DJs to Watch” in 2011 by DJ Mag. The talented duo combined with Angello’s club bangers and latest hit with Swedish House Mafia, “Greyhound,” will keep the party going until the early hours of the morning.
Sunday, May 27: deadmau5 makes his triumphant return following his history-making set at XS for “deadmau5 Day” in January. Recognized by his famous mau5 headpiece, he will play master of ceremonies for the club’s celebrated Night Swim party. Swimwear is encouraged as guests have the option of dipping in the pool or dancing under the chandelier for this one of a kind party atmosphere.
Monday, May 28: XS closes the holiday weekend with an unparalleled event, combining two of the biggest names in electronic dance music, David Guetta and Avicii. Making his XS residency debut, Guetta was recently announced as DJ Mag’s #1 DJ in the world. Adding to the monumental event, Grammy-nominated DJ and producer, Avicii, returns to the Encore hot spot with his club anthems “Levels” and “Fade into Darkness” hyping the crowd. On one stage Guetta and Avicii will create the perfect combination for a successful launch into summer.
I am not exactly sure where this track came from, but it found its way into my iTunes about a month ago and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. The reason I haven’t posted it already is because I’ve been waiting to find out if it’s the real deal or not and I just couldn’t wait anymore. The track is done by Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Alesso, which is a massive trio of artists all collaborating on one track. What makes this track so unique is that not only is it very different it also displays many different elements in it. The beat of this song is intense very Swedish House Mafia-esque, but with a tad bit of electro added to it. To me, it’s been quite interesting to see Swedish House Mafia’s sound evolve over time. Their music is deep but as of late they have been adding in a lot of electro elements into their latest tracks. I say this because there are few elements that both tracks share, but it is what the Nation has been thirsting for. Either way, I have not been able to get enough of this track and I love everything about it from the big buildup, to the synths, and a questionable vocal selection but I still love it. No word on the release date just yet, but either way make sure to check it out!

Since Save the World has been released, the boys of Swedish House Mafia went to Carlisle for the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend. This one hour set is an hour of pure pleasure, from start to finish. My favorite part of the set is when John Martin joins SHM on stage to close out their amazing set with Save the World. Also, make sure to check out a new tune from the young gun DJ from Russia, Arty. The track is titled Around the World, and I can only imagine we will be hearing and seeing this quite a lot in the next few months to come. I am pretty bummed about the sound quality on this one, but it’s better than nothing. Enjoy!

I have been meaning to get around to this, so no better time than now. I know this is a little late, but it has taken me quite some time to form this list. This has taken me so long because I had to form their track list. I have been wanting to do this post ever since the event took place, and now the time has finally come. This was my first time seeing Swedish House Mafia live, so I didn’t know what to expect. However, I did know that whatever I was going to experience was going to be larger than life. Leaving from ULTRA, we pulled up to the event late because we wanted to catch all the good performances that day. So we ran from the cab all the way to the ticket booth on the beach. When we got there, we were told that the ticket company had left with everyone’s tickets! This was because the fire marshalls came around 5 pm, shut the doors and wouldn’t let any one in. A riot took place on the beach and the people from will call with tickets bounced. So at this point we were completely screwed because we couldn’t go back to Ultra and we had no way into the Masquerade motel. The first hour we were there, we tried figuring out a way to get inside because we knew we had to witness this event. Finally after convincing this guy that The Nation and I were media, he let us in. Walking into this lavish event, we had no idea what the night had in store for us.
As we got in, the place was PACKED. The first thing we did was move all the way up to the front. I am not sure exactly how we were able to do so, but it happened! Unfortunately we only go to see the last bit of dirty south, but oh well! (We saw him on that Thursday night at Mansion in Miami) We had the pleasure of seeing the entire set of the legendary BBC radio host, Pete Tong. After his set, everything was cleared for their infamous curtain drop. All of sudden, the curtain that had been up the entire day became the backdrop for a movie. After a few minute video introduction, the curtain dropped and the mayhem began. Their two hour set was mind blowing from start to finish, and the production of the entire event was first class. Every single track they performed was perfect for the show. The crowd and the environment was a lot more upscale than ULTRA. There were tons of famous people in attendance as well! I am so happy I decided to leave ULTRA mid-day to become a part of history at the Masquerade Motel! From us here at the Nation, we would like to thank you SHM for one hell of a night. After having time to let the original version of this song sink in, we finally have some remixes for you. Last week I posted the Tim Mason Festival Remix version and now we finally have the higher quality version of it. I can’t get enough of his remix, and personally I think it’s amazing. The song is such a feel good song,and will definitely turn frowns upside down. This is one of the songs I usually listen to in the morning because it gets me ready for my busy days. My favorite on this list is the Third Party remix, because they take the song to the next level. Make sure to grab them all!
