Arguably one of my favorite tracks this year has come from none other than Kaskade. Voted America’s #1 DJ and a worldwide music star, one of the staples off his newest Fire & Ice album has seen a major makeover. “Eyes,” remixes was released today, mixes coming from R3hab, Alvin Risk and Swanky Tunes. All 3 are polar opposites but are enjoyable recognizing this massive hit. Try not to compare them to the original but take them as totally new tracks, PrivateParty!

Album Review: Kaskade-Fire and Ice

American born and San Francisco native DJ Kaskade has had one of the largest impacts on the growth of EDM here in the United States. Kaskade, one of the most unique DJs around, has come out with multiple albums that transcend his name every year. For every album he produces, he switches recording studios so that he can concentrate on making each album different than the last. His new album, “Fire and Ice” is his best yet in my opinion. The basis of his new album is a summary of his last ten years as a producer. Kaskade wanted to express his sound in two different forms so for this album there are a total of ten songs each with two mixes. The first is the “Fire” mix which is upbeat and high tempo. On the contrary, his “Ice” mix is more low key and has a slower tempo. In short, this new album is Kaskade’s way to express himself and his passion for EDM to his fans with his own style.

His song “Eyes” is classic Kaskade and simply put, a beautiful song. It has an incredible melody with a piano in the background that just makes this a feel good song. The drop is mellow but still very powerful. The song “Waste Love” which features Quadron’s main singer Coco is unique and different to what Kaskade usually produces. It has a jazz feel and makes the song feel old school. The heart and sole of the the fire mixes is ironically the song “Ice” which was produced in collaboration with Dada Life. Dada Life always brings energy to every one of their songs and this song just exhumes upbeat energy. However, out of the whole album my two favorite songs are Kaskade and Neon Tree’s song “Lessons in Love” and his song with Skrillex called “Lick It”. Neon Trees is an incredible band and I was excited to hear that they would collaborate once more after the bass guitarist of Neon Trees was in studio for the recording of Kaskade’s hit song “4AM”. This song has a slightly eerie beat with a great build-up that leads to a HUGE drop with vocals in the background. Lastly is the song “Lick It” which is produced by two of my favorite DJs today. This song is unbelievably dirty. I cannot get over how much I love this song with the mesh between both the styles of Kaskade and Skrillex. Kaskade himself explained the sound of this song as if a grumpy old man were beat-boxing into a mic. I don’t know how else to describe it but it is a song that you will have to check out for yourself. Outside of the five songs I briefly reviewed here, every song on his new album is incredible. They all have a different style but are still close to what Kaskade is all about. I highly encourage you to purchase this album because of it’s uniqueness not only to Kaskade, but to the EDM fan base.

What a week it has been for Kaskade! On Saturday he played one of the worlds greatest outdoor venues, The Gorge, and his first ever Essential Mix was released on the world famous BBC Radio 1. Kaskade- Essential Mix 9/9/11

This past weekend, USA’s finest Kaskade recorded his first ever Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. As many of you know, being able to do an essential mix is a privilege. It’s something that many artists dream about doing, and most never get the opportunity to do one. For years now, people have been wondering when Kaskade would get the chance to make one and the time has finally come! Recording an Essential mix is a mile stone for artists… and in my eyes, Kaskade has been deserving of this for a while. Recently crowned as “America’s best DJ”, Kaskade threw down one of the sickest essential mixes my ears have ever heard. Over the years, his popularity in the industry has been rapidly growing and you can expect him to sell out every venue. In this mix, he played a lot of his old tunes as well as a few of his new ones. One of the tracks that stood out most to me is his new remix to “Sending My love”. For those of you that remember when I first posted this track, you know how good it is. The original is such a banger that it was hard for me to imagine some one remixing it. Overall, this is by far one of my favorite essential mixes to ever be put on so make sure to check it out!

Hola! Here is the official preview for Kaskade’s new track called “Turn it Down.” It has a very energetic vibe with a few sounds embedded into the tune. Just like many Kaskade tracks, there are female vocal’s, which give it a seductive, mellow vibe. The video highlights a part of Kaskade on his ID Festival tour in San Francisco.
