Deadmau5- Nokia Light Up the Night (Video)

Tuesday, November 29th: Nokia Lumia Live – Millbank Tower on the banks of River Thames was turned into a living, breathing entity last night (mon) as Nokia celebrated the launch of the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone with the most spectacular light show the capital has ever seen.

Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic Millbank Tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 4D images onto the structure, making it seem like huge butterflies were flying across the London skyline and that the tower was spinning around. Billed as the “future of live events” the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance – adding the 4th dimension.

Visuals have always been an important part of my shows, so the chance to work with Nokia and its projection team on a project of this scale and ambition is really exciting. It’s also great to be able to play such an iconic landmark and to a UK crowd. -deadmau5

Zedd – Stars Come Out

22 year old Zedd has had an impressive year. IN 2011 he’s toured with deadmau5, Skrillex, and Porter Robinson. He’s released remixes for Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, and many others. He’s played huge festivals like Ultra and Electric Daisy Carnival. And he’s not showing any signs of slowing down. Last week he released his first dubstep song, and now he’s back with another electro house song thats no less than impressive. Stars Come Out is exactly what we expect from Zedd, upbeat, intricate electro synths, and an over all great feeling that just makes you want to move. On top of all that are the vocals done by Heather Bright which couldn’t have worked out better. Even though the song just came out today this could easily be our favorite tune of Zedd’s to date, and is sure to explode onto the scene. Keep your ears tuned for this one because we’re sure it will be played all over. Be sure to grab Stars Come Out and support Zedd, available now on Beatport!

Deadmau5 – Aural Psynapse

Earlier this week, Deadmau5, the now EDM mogul, released his latest creation. ‘Aural Psynapse’ in a way brings us back to the days before MTV, a time when the majority were calling this phenom, dead-mau-five. To me this track is classic Deadmau5, seemingly simple initially but as the lead synths and melody build, not only are my ears happy, but the complexity is driven home. For those of you lucky enough to have seen the Mau5 live recently, you may have heard this track; I can only imagine what this song sounds like live. Massive and desensitizing as always I’m sure, PrivateParty!

Thursday Night Thumpers

Hello from a chilly and snowy Boulder. What could make this night better? A solid whiskey blanket and some TNT’s. Tonight’s Thumpers include a new Chuckie Mash Up, Tiesto’s Maximal Crazy remixed, and a new Thomas Gold masterpiece. Also Skrillex’s compilation with The Doors, their RE: Generation mix. I saw Skrillex play this track live on Halloween during his Scary Tings show, it is nothing less than massive. Speaking of massive, up in comer, Special Features has taken Deadmau5′s “Strobe” and electrified every portion of it, creating a even heavier dancefloor anthem! Enjoy the TNT’s, stay warm, love, PrivateParty!

Concert Review- Deadmau5 at Chelsea Ballroom 9/2/11

On Friday 9/2/11, one of the premier events in Las Vegas over LDW was Deadmau5 at the Chelsea Ballroom at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. This is a show I’ve been looking forward to since Deadmau5 announced his tour several months ago. Over the years, I have seen hundreds of DJs perform and have even had the blessed opportunity to meet most of them. The one artist I have never seen happens to be one of the worlds best DJs/Producers, Deadmau5. Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) is known for his versatile style of music and his live performances. Going to a Deadmau5 concert isn’t like a typical concert…. His intense live shows and visuals are unlike any one else, which makes for one hell of an experience! Being able to attend this event was special for two reasons: (1) it was my first time and (2) Remix Nation was granted the opportunity to photograph and cover the event.

The night started out with Tommy Lee and DJ Aero, who did a great job of warming up the crowd and getting the crowd ready for what was in store for the rest of the night. Opening up for Deadmau5 is a very difficult task, and these guys nailed it! There set came to an end and all of the sudden the room went black. Out of nowhere, the sound started to come back and right then the curtain dropped and Deadmau5′s stage was unveiled. The track that started his set was his new release “Where are my Keys” and that’s when the mayhem began… By far one of the more memorable parts of the night was when he dropped a huge dubstep segment, which really got the crowd going. At one point, I turned around and the police behind me were dancing!

As the one and only, Sofi, hit the stage when all the photographers were let into the camera pit. In just under an hour, we got the opportunity to see how monstrous this stage actually was. Seeing it in person really blew me way because the size of his cube was HUGE. The light show that was going on during Sofi’s performance was stellar, and the lighting really took the live performance to the next level. Another memorable moment of the night happened to catch me off guard. This was when Deadmau5 dropped arguably one of his most famous tracks, “Ghosts N Stuff”. In previous shows when this track is being played, a ghost will appear on stage and its usually Deadmau5 himself with a sheet over him. Not this time. All of the sudden a girl wearing heals walks out on stage and danced around with the ghost sheet over her.

Next thing you know… the lady rips it off and it is the one and only Paris Hilton! Not in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined Paris Hilton coming out on stage during one of Deadmau5′s performances. Shocking, I know. As the night went on, Deadmau5 was dropping hit after hit, and the crowd was eating it up. As always, he closed his set with “Strobe 2011″ which is an edit he made for live shows this year. Hearing this song was the perfect way to end my night and I couldn’t have been any happier to hear it.

Before seeing Deadmau5 live, I never really was into him like everyone else. Yes, I enjoyed his music, but I didn’t understand all the hype around him. After seeing his live performance, I now understand all this hype and I guess you can say I’m obsessed with him now like everyone else. If Deadmau5 is hitting your city soon, please go out and see him. You will not regret it… trust me on this one!
