Rusko – Levitate Review + Tour + Skanker Video Contest

On April 20th UK’s Rusko kicked off his North American tour with the first show in Broomfield, CO. Levitate Festival was put on by Elm & Oak and AEG Live which also featured Picture Plane, Paper Diamond and DJ Shadow. We arrived as Paper Diamond began and he got us dancing with one of our favorites, Can We Go Up, plus the sounds of his fourth coming EP, Wavesight. After the Shadowsphere was all set up, DJ Shadow entertained the crowd both musically and visually. He played from inside his white Shadowsphere with projections and alternated between facing the crowd and letting them get lost in the visuals on and behind him. When it was time for Rusko to take the stage he instantly electrified everyone. With the lit up letters of his name moving up and down behind, he played mostly new tracks from the album Songs such as Somebody to Love. Rusko’s booth is set up in such a way that you can see him from head-to-toe, revealing his goofy, upbeat dancing that can make anyone laugh. But now he wants to see you dance! He is currently holding a video contest for his song Skanker. Check out the video below for more info. All the tours dates and ticket information are also listed below the video.

Alex Clare – Too Close

Who says that nothing good ever comes from Internet Explorer? It was my fate that I would hear an oddly intriguing song during an Internet Explorer advertisement, decide to look it up online and subsequently blog about it and share it to you. This song is purely magical because I’ve been listening to it non-stop for the past week or so and there seems to be no end in sight for this madness. The song itself was released in 2011, but has recently picked up a considerable amount of traction. It has evocative and passionate lyrics and is backed up with a very strong dubstep beat. It is a great song to enjoy in many different settings. I think it’s often difficult for many EDM fans to separate electronically produced music from partying and going out, but this song has so much emotion that it can stand alone. If you are a fan of bass or an admirer of lyrics, this is a song I would recommend. If you enjoy both of those things and have been waiting for an artist that combines these elements seamlessly, then I would highly suggest looking at other tracks by Alex Clare here. I’ve added his epic video for his music video of Too Close and I’ve also embedded some tracks off of his soundcloud. Enjoy the ear candy and GTHC!

Mark Foster + A-Trak + Kimbra – Warrior

Every now and then Converse Shoes brings together a few artist to make a song that is then released for free as part of a add campaign. Last time it was Kid Cudi, Best Coast, and Rostam of Vampire Weekend with the interesting indie rock / hip-hop track  All Summer. This time around Converse went for a more dance and indie mix when bringing together New Zealand’s Kimbra, Mark Foster from Foster the People and of course A-Trak! This combination of artist seems all to perfect and the outcome is outstanding. A feel good and dynamic tune to say the least, be sure to grab Warrior its sure to make you day better. Also check out the add video for Converse, its pretty funny.

Borgore – Flex EP + Tour

Dubstep heavyweight Borgore has just released his newest EP for free. Flex features four tracks including two remixes of the title track by Borgore and Document One. Just like many Borgore tunes Flex (feat. Shay) and Kiss My Lips (feat. Dev) are both strong vocal dubstep tracks. Flex like some of his previous tracks is more on the dirty side with lyrics. The original track seems to focus on those lyrics while maintaining a good beat. On the other hand both the Borgore’s dubstep Remix and Document One Remix focus more on the instrumental side. Both remix’s are very different and great songs, we prefer Borgore’s remix out of all three versions of Flex. Kiss My Lips features lyrics from Dev, a perfect match for Borgore. This is our favorite track from the EP not just because of the great vocals from Dev, but the beat truly displays how skilled Borgore is. Like we said you can get the whole EP for free from www.buygore.com and we recommend you do!

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) (Remixes)

Unless you have had your head under a rock recently you have surely heard Gotye’s Somebody That I Use To Know featuring Kimbra. The original is amazing as is but naturally we have been looking around for a good EDM remix of this song. We have found our favorite thus far in a remix by 4FRNT. A new name for you all in fact this is the first release from the LA duo, and already it is getting them some well deserved attention. The track is not available for download yet, but we feel that has something to do with Gotye recently saying in an interview that he would like to make this an official remix! Also be sure to check out the video for the original track. Support 4FRNT on Facebook! As a bonus we have posted a few more remixes for you all to enjoy!

Savoy – DIY

Our friends Savoy are once again tearing up the Beatport charts with their new dubstep single DIY. It has already reached #8 on the dubstep charts and is still climbing quickly! This track was also featured in a commercial for GoPro cameras. GoPro has used many EDM artist for add’s including Skrillex and The Glitch Mob. Savoy’s DIY adds so much to the commercial which features motorcycle riding by Ronnie Renner. We love this song, so please support Savoy and head over to buy it on Beatport. Also check out all of Savoy’s up coming tour dates, we got the chance to shoot photos for their 11/11/11 show in Denver which was phenomenal. See those pictures here!
