Richard Durand Vs North America E.P. Competition

In a bold move, globally acclaimed EDM DJ/producer Richard Durand and Black Hole Recordings are giving music fans a chance to have their very own track included on the North American installment of the earth-encompassing artist album, Richard Durand Vs The World! With a total of five E.P.s – each E.P. representing one continent or region of the globe – the Richard Durand Vs North America E.P. will feature three tracks: one track that is 100% composed by Richard Durand; a second track that is a collaboration between Richard Durand and a noteworthy North American artist; and the third track consisting of the “winning” submission as voted on by fans and the public. The crowdsourced competition is open to the general public and launches on March 26th, 2012. The submissions deadline for North America is April 23rd, 2012. The Richard Durand Vs North America E.P. will be officially released and available for retail purchase on May 21st, 2012. Contestants must use stems provided by Richard Durand, but beyond that, there’s no limit to the possibilities of one’s imagination. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for budding singers, songwriters and/or producers!

Stems for the Richard Durand Vs North America E.P. competition can be downloaded at Richard Durand’s website: www.richarddurand.com. Simply download the app and the base track. Contestants can go anywhere they wish from there. Contestants are encouraged to apply melodies, effects, basslines, percussion, vocals…there are literally no creative constraints. Composers of the winning track will receive a writing share plus artist’s royalties. There only a few days left so be sure to enter now!

Angger Dimas & Bassjackers- RIA

If any of you were fortunate enough to catch Sander Van Doorn’s set at Ultra (Or if you downloaded the live set) you may remember hearing this track. Angger Dimas and Bassjackers have collaborated to make this hard hitting track, which I think will appear in a lot of DJ sets this up coming summer. It starts out with just a simple pattern of notes, which then get’s joined by a crazy assortment of snares. The drop is definitely Bassjackers-esque with a combination of hard hitting bass, dutch style synths, and a cowbell… yes that’s right, a cowbell.

Andrew Bayer feat. Alison May – Brick

In my opinion Andrew Bayer is one of the most under rated producers in EDM. He has no limits to what he can do as he has proved time and time again. His album It’s Artificial was one of my favorites of last year and is still one I listen constantly. Although I had been aware of Andrew Bayer for a while I first truly fell in love with his sounds when he had the guest mix spot on Trance Around The World #383. He was celebrating the release of It’s Artificial that week yet the mix had just as many unreleased track too. The opening track was Brick, a glitchy melodic track that I fell in love with instantly. This song is awesome in every way and brings together so many styles of EDM that I enjoy. Ever since that episode of TATW I have been looking for Brick! Now more then seven months later it is finally set to be released on March 26th, along with two more songs You and Community. Although Brick is what I am most excited for all three songs are great and prove yet again that Andrew Bayer is an amazing producer! Check out the song previews on YouTube and be sure to support Andrew Bayer.

Kaskade – Freaks of Nature Tour

Originally from a small town in Illinois, Kaskade (Ryan Raddon) is what you can truly call a dynamic producer. After spending hundreds of hours developing his DJ’ing skills in his Utah dorm room, he has grown into an international sensation. With nine albums, countless singles, several compilations, and side projects such as Late Night Alumni over the years, Kaskade has been a huge player in the growth of EDM’s popularity. Collaborating with artists such as Skylar Grey, Skrillex, Adam K and Deadmau5, his versatility and unique sound make him one of the most desired names in the game. Which is why, when COllective started hearing rumors of a Kaskade tour awhile back, excitement quickly started to build. Today Kaskade made it official, the “Freaks of Nature” tour will kick off late May and run through the summer. The tour already consists of 40 dates with more to be announced soon, including possibly EDC Las Vegas. We will be at the show on August 1st at Red Rocks Amphitheater! Kaskade fans new and old won’t be disappointed as we experience this new leg of his musical journey. These shows are sure to be full of energy, emotion, and of course great music! We will keep you up to date on more information for this tour including openers and added dates. For most dates a limited number of tickets have been released at a lower cost on the tour website. Moguai: BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

If you guys are fans of the heavy punk techno/electro techno style, then this is an essential mix that well, is essential. Earlier this morning, 3:00am London time, German DJ/producer Moguai paid a visit to the BBC Radio 1 studio to drop an absolutely insane essential mix in his essential mix debut. It is a big deal to be invited to play the BBC Radio 1 Essential mix as they only invite the best. Moguai’s 2 hour mix incorporates his best remixes and most of his hit songs, including his new hit “Monkey Business” around the 1:30:00. He also throws in some Deadmau5 who helped give him a popularity boost by including him on the Mau5trap label. Moguai does a phenomenal job by intertwining multiple genres and different electronic styles to make this set a great one. 2011 was a gigantic year for Moguai as he proved himself as a DJ on the rise. I was lucky enough to see him perform at EDC in Vegas last year and he absolutely destroyed it, leading him to be one of my favorite performances of the whole weekend. This has been my favorite essential mix since Arty dropped his a few weeks ago so you should download and it give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed.
