The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Tiësto & Hardwell Remix)

I know this song has been out for a while now but after hearing Hardwell drop it at Nocturnal Wonderland Texas I knew I needed to post it. I’m becoming very fond of the idea of Tiësto and Hardwell collaborations. Zero 76 was a pretty big song last year, and this remix is sure to be massive this summer! This song is house music perfection in my mind, and the original lyrics from The Naked & Famous are awesome, I fully expect to see the EDC crowds sing along. Grab this track or pick up Tiësto’s Club Life, Vol. 2 – Miami a great compalation that also include’s Tiësto’s song with Wolfgang Gartner, We Own the Night.

MitiS- Parting

I know i’m about to sound like I’m Mitis’ agent but seriously everyone should know about this guy. He completely blew me away when I heard his track “Life Of Sin” and now he’s released a track off his upcoming EP called “Parting”. While working on this track he posted on his Facebook page “Started writing a Dubstep track and noticed by the end it was lovestep”. I’m not quite sure what “lovestep” is supposed to sound like but for me this is Progressive House meets Dubstep. The intro is sick which grabs your attention right off the bat. The fact he’s a classically trained pianist definitely shows in his work. His melodic patterns are both creative and original. The Dubstep element of this track is definitely the underlying beat, it gives the track that classic Dubstep feel but with a lighter sound. It doesn’t over power the light melodic beats it’s combined with and I honestly never thought that Dubstep style could work out of it’s element as well as it does in this track. His EP is scheduled to be released on May 21st.

Franz Novotny- Big Bang (Original + Digital LAB Remix)

This track should sound familiar because it’s made an appearance in various big name DJ’s sets. Or if you’re a Kaskade fan you know this track from his mashup that was released last year “Be Still Bang Bang”.  Franz Novotny is an up and coming DJ from Sweden (no surprise there) and for someone who’s only been around for about a year this is a pretty solid track. It was first previewed on soundcloud months ago after his first popular track “Crunch”. This track is definitely calmer than “Crunch” and much more melodic. About a minute in a melodic intro starts in with a variety of light synths. However once it gets to the drop it’s just a different melodic pattern with a faint bass beat underneath, which due to the buildup you definitely don’t expect. It then leads in to an acoustic piano pattern, which is totally unexpected as well. The track goes back and forth between progressive and trance sounds and overall very well constructed.

One of the remixes of this track that was released is from up and coming DJ Digital LAB. Digital LAB is an up and coming DJ from Miami and I like the slight changes he made in his remix. In the beginning he keeps the light progressive sound but then puts a deeper melodic pattern underneath, which you would expect in a dubstep or harder electro track. He takes the original drop and makes it more hard hitting (in my opinion better) than the original and gives it that classic upbeat house sound.

Keane- Silenced By The Night (Alesso Remix)

Aside from being an EDM fan I gotta admit i’m a sucker for alternative indie music. So I love when two of my favorite genre’s get mixed together and mixed together well. Ever since I heard the preview of this about a month ago i’ve been impatiently waiting for it’s official release. This remix is nothing less than what we would expect from Alesso. Every track he’s remixed or produced thus far has turned in to a hit and this track is no different. It’s already been played by a lot of today’s prominent DJ’s. In the beginning of the track Alesso combines lot of different sounds, which I didn’t think would go together. At first it  threw me off guard especially since after the beginning it’s just a straight progressive track till the end. The arrangement of different sounds he strings together in the beginning shows he’s still progressing as a DJ and not afraid to stray away from “safe sounds”. Now that this has been officially released I hope his anticipated track “Years” is soon to follow.

Deadmau5 releases 4 tracks on Soundcloud

Deadmau5 is the man. He just released 4 unexpected tracks on his Soundclound under the name “fuckmylife”. Amazingly, when I search “fuckmylife” in google, his link is the first search result.
Maybe that’s because I frequently visit his soundcloud, or maybe it’s because everything he does goes viral, somebody please double check for me. Anyway, with no song previews or release dates, Deadmau5 drops these tracks with no warning. Each track conveys his signature progressive house style with intricate build ups that lead us (the curious listeners), into unexpected, softer drops. Although the tracks are not for download, I still find myself tracking to the beginning of the song, Closer Rev.2 every seven  minutes just to be able to hear it again.

RANDOM?

David Puentez- Oslo (Are You Ready)

At first listen I immediately thought that this track would definitely be a great addition to any set. David Puentez’s latest track “Oslo” is not too soft yet not too hard hitting, which is why it’s a great track to stick in to the middle of a set to keep the crowd up. David Puentez is one of the most acclaimed DJ’s of his hometown Germany and you definitely hear that european house style in this track. The track starts off very melodic with a classic progressive house sound which leads in to a compressed bass drop that gives it that european house sound, which he is known for in his other tracks. He is also known for his bootleg’s, which have been played by well known DJ’s such as Chuckie, Fatboy Slim, and Roger Sanchez just to name a few.
