Robbie Rivera feat. Mr. Eyez- Dance Your Ass Off

This track is my personal favorite off of Robbie Rivera’s recently released Dance or Die Series 1 album. I first saw Robbie Rivera at last years Electric Zoo and he completely blew me away. His set was very eclectic to say the least and I think he’s very underrated in the DJ world considering he didn’t even make the top 100 list. This track is very new school meets old school. Robbie Rivera has been around since the 90′s so he’s not a newcomer, but his track incorporates the current house sound yet the vocals provided by Mr. Eyez makes it sound like a dance track from the 90′s. Mr. Eyez’s voice sounds like that typical male voice that we heard on almost every popular dance track on the 90′s, which gives it a fun, upbeat, and nostalgic feel. The beats under it are very hard hitting and represents Robbie Rivera’s amazing skills as a DJ. This track is just an example of how good the rest of the album is so i definitely suggest you give it a listen.

Miike Snow – The Wave (Thomas Gold Remix)

Miike Snow has released one hit after another this year. They have gained quick success in not only the indie alternative world but within the EDM community. Great DJ’s such as Dirty South, Wolfgang Gartner, Jacques Lu Cont, Bart B. More, and others have remixed his latest singles. Another amazing DJ who has had more than just a successful past year has joined that list, Thomas Gold. Thomas Gold hasn’t produced anything less than a hit this past year and this track is no different. He has released his remix of Miike Snow’s “The Wave”. I actually like Miike Snow’s original version and I think Thomas Gold has enhanced the original sound as opposed to completely changing it. For example the original track starts off with a great drum pattern and acoustic piano. Thomas Gold keeps that great drum pattern yet brings up the tempo and replaces the acoustic piano with distorted synths giving it an edgier vibe than the original. Once the vocals kick in you hear that great big room house sound beginning to kick in that Thomas Gold is known for. This track has already been supported by various popular DJ’s and in radio shows. There’s no doubt that this is going to be a big hit this summer.

The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Tiësto & Hardwell Remix)

I know this song has been out for a while now but after hearing Hardwell drop it at Nocturnal Wonderland Texas I knew I needed to post it. I’m becoming very fond of the idea of Tiësto and Hardwell collaborations. Zero 76 was a pretty big song last year, and this remix is sure to be massive this summer! This song is house music perfection in my mind, and the original lyrics from The Naked & Famous are awesome, I fully expect to see the EDC crowds sing along. Grab this track or pick up Tiësto’s Club Life, Vol. 2 – Miami a great compalation that also include’s Tiësto’s song with Wolfgang Gartner, We Own the Night.

Starkillers- Keep Pushing

Las Vegas DJ/Producer, Nick Terranova better known as Starkillers, is quickly making a name for himself in America. He prides himself in his unique sound and style that incorporates deep vocals with unconventional bass lines. While listening to this track and others on his soundcloud, it is easy to see his potential to become a break-through artist in the upcoming year(s).

“I’m A.D.D” he explains of the hyperactive nature of his music. “I know people always say that, but I really am. I really try not to sound like anyone else or copy anyone. What’s the point in being in this biz if all your gonna do is try and sound like someone else? I do what I think is cool and don’t really care what people think. You’re either a fan or you’re not.”

MitiS- Parting

I know i’m about to sound like I’m Mitis’ agent but seriously everyone should know about this guy. He completely blew me away when I heard his track “Life Of Sin” and now he’s released a track off his upcoming EP called “Parting”. While working on this track he posted on his Facebook page “Started writing a Dubstep track and noticed by the end it was lovestep”. I’m not quite sure what “lovestep” is supposed to sound like but for me this is Progressive House meets Dubstep. The intro is sick which grabs your attention right off the bat. The fact he’s a classically trained pianist definitely shows in his work. His melodic patterns are both creative and original. The Dubstep element of this track is definitely the underlying beat, it gives the track that classic Dubstep feel but with a lighter sound. It doesn’t over power the light melodic beats it’s combined with and I honestly never thought that Dubstep style could work out of it’s element as well as it does in this track. His EP is scheduled to be released on May 21st.

Franz Novotny- Big Bang (Original + Digital LAB Remix)

This track should sound familiar because it’s made an appearance in various big name DJ’s sets. Or if you’re a Kaskade fan you know this track from his mashup that was released last year “Be Still Bang Bang”.  Franz Novotny is an up and coming DJ from Sweden (no surprise there) and for someone who’s only been around for about a year this is a pretty solid track. It was first previewed on soundcloud months ago after his first popular track “Crunch”. This track is definitely calmer than “Crunch” and much more melodic. About a minute in a melodic intro starts in with a variety of light synths. However once it gets to the drop it’s just a different melodic pattern with a faint bass beat underneath, which due to the buildup you definitely don’t expect. It then leads in to an acoustic piano pattern, which is totally unexpected as well. The track goes back and forth between progressive and trance sounds and overall very well constructed.

One of the remixes of this track that was released is from up and coming DJ Digital LAB. Digital LAB is an up and coming DJ from Miami and I like the slight changes he made in his remix. In the beginning he keeps the light progressive sound but then puts a deeper melodic pattern underneath, which you would expect in a dubstep or harder electro track. He takes the original drop and makes it more hard hitting (in my opinion better) than the original and gives it that classic upbeat house sound.

Pryda- SW4

Eric Prydz’s fans (which is pretty much everyone in the EDM community) have been waiting in suspense for his up coming 3 CD album. As another teaser leading up to the album release he’s finally officially released a track that has been featured in his sets for years. It’s definitely a solid first release from his up coming album and is yet another reminder of how talented he is. It’s very well constructed, plain and simple. He’s definitely staying true to his style and not trying to just adapt to the house sounds that are popular today.  As if we wouldn’t have been satisfied with just an album it was announced that he’s joining the Identity tour, which was beyond shocking considering he hasn’t made a US appearance in years. I definitely don’t think this represents the whole sound of the upcoming album, i’m sure he has a lot more in store for us.
