Krewella is an up and coming DJ trio from Chicago comprised of Jahan, Yasmine, and Rain Man. Krewella’s remix of Knife Party’s “Fire Hive” turns the original track in to a completely different song. They add vocals which gives it a hip-hop feel along with air horns in the background giving it a reggae vibe. It’s a high energy track and at the dubstep drop they enrich the bass even more than the original track (which I didn’t think was even possible). Enjoy!

As I’m sure all my fellow bass heads are well aware we are just three days away from the release of Bassnectar’s newest album Vava Voom. The eleven track album features collaborations with a great list of artist including Lupe Fiasco, Amp Live, Jantsen, Mimi Page, Tina Malia, and ill.Gates. Thus far two singles for the album have been released, the first was Ugly, which features Amp Live. This track is free directly from Bassnectar.net which is also where you can pre-order the full album. The second single is Vava Voom the title track which features Lupe Fiasco, one of my favorite hip-hop vocalists and a perfect match for this track. The Bassnectar Labs team put all the tracks up on YouTube in a play list so all you bass heads can listen before the album is out on Tuesday.
After a first listen I feel this is another great landmark in Lorin’s career, a well crafted album from start to finish. There’s just far too many great tracks to pick favorites, but I definitely suggest Empathy, Do It Like This(feat. ill.Gates), Ping Pong, and the beautiful Butterfly (feat. Mimi Page). I have been a Bassnectar fan for a long time and he was one of the first electronic artist who’s music I fell in love with. Therefor I was ecstatic when I first heard he was reworking Laughter Crescendo originally from Mesmerizing the Ultra, and the new 2012 version is awesome. Doesn’t lose the original feel and reminds long time bass heads that Lorin remembers his roots. Vava Voom also features a rework of a rock song much like the remix of Immigraniada in his last album. This time Bassnectar pays tribute to Pennywise and takes his blend of rock and bass music up another notch.
Theres no doubt this album has everything a true bass head needs, and just in time for the Vava Voom tour! All the tour dates are listed below and includes huge events and shows all over the country. Two nights at Red Rocks, both Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas and New York, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Lightning in a Bottle, Bass Canter V and VI the list is stacked and shows are selling out fast! I look forward to seeing all my fellow bass heads for two great nights at Red Rocks and can’t wait to hear what you all think of the album. Enjoy it everyone!
With the Group Therapy album nearing a year old now Above & Beyond continues to keep it on the forefront of everyones minds. With each new single release come a new take on their own work and remixes from friends all across the EDM community. The most recent release is Love Is Not Enough featuring Zoë Johnston, to me one of the most powerful songs from Group Therapy. This is the largest single release from the album thus far, actually split up into three EP’s.
The first EP includes the Radio and Extended mixes of the original song as well as the Above & Beyond Club mix. Although I do very much enjoy the club mix and the new take it brings to the song I still feel A&B had it best with the original or extended mix. On this EP they also included the Andrew Bayer & James Grant Remix of Prelude, first released on Anjunadeep 04 last month this track is vastly different then the original and the full length version is a must!
The second EP brings in two more amazing remixes of Love Is Not Enough. First is the Kaskade Remix, no one other then Kaskade could have been a better choice to put a progressive house touch on the song and maintain the feeling! Next is the Maor Levi & Bluestone Remix, exactly what the trance family was looking for. This is the version I hope to see Above & Beyond play this summer, its truly a massive trance tune that I feel will bring just as powerful of a moment as when they play Sun & Moon!
The last EP has a dubstep remix by Synkro and a drum & bass remix provided by MRZO, an alias for Mat Zo. Again both remixes are good and well worth listening too, they just dont compare to the other two remixes for me. I was very happy though to see such good DNB production from Mat Zo who has said multiple time that he is working on all genres for his album this year. Synkro also should not be overlooked, he provided a deep calm dub take on the song which is a style I have become very fond of after hearing Seven Lions Remixes of Satellite and You Got To Go which is also included in this EP.
Check out all of the mixes and let me know which you think is best, I still can
Well Feed Me has been on another epic journey across the united states please fans far and wide. This time he was accompanied by his newest friend, Teeth! Teeth is Feed Me’s take on the custom stage, and probably one of my favorites. Jon Gooch as always used the little green monster with the large grin as the face for his Feed Me projects, and this stage takes that theme to its fullest potential. This is not to mention Feed Me is always a good live show and has been consistently producing great music. Many of my personal favorite bass music songs have come from the talented producer with, Cloud Burn, Strange Behavior, and of course One Click Headshot! Now Feed Me and Teeth along with Kill The Noise, and Jontron will take over the Ogden Theater in Denver next Wednesday April 11th. Colorado fans do not miss this show! We will be there and look forward to an amazing night.
Keeping the momentum going after the successful DEADMEAT TOUR, Steve Aoki continues to bring his debut studio album Wonderland to life. Today, the international DJ and producer premiered his new video for “Cudi The Kid,” featuring Travis Barker and Kid Cudi. Expect a creepy clown in this dark, allusive video, which features mini-look-a-likes of Aoki, Cudi and Barker’s actual son Landon.
“Cudi the Kid” Single and Remixes Available on April 10 via Ultra Music
Knife Party is currently one of the most exciting names in EDM today, with almost everyone watching closely as to what they will do next. There for when their new song Centipede was first played it wasn’t long before people started trying it get a full studio version of the tune. I have no idea as to when this song will be officially released but hopefully another Knife Party EP isn’t too far away. For now enjoy Centipede which proves Knife Party isn’t slowing down any time soon!

Last week Zeds Dead and Omar LinX put our the very impressive Victor mixtape and I have been hooked on it. The mixtape has a combination of brand new songs and older Zeds Dead songs that Omar LinX added vocals to. Its like a show case of everything Zeds Dead and Omar LinX have done together thus far. Personally my favorite tracks from Victor are The One or You and I, although Out For Blood is always a classic. I was extremely excited last time I saw Zeds Dead in Denver that they brought Omar along. Zeds Dead, Omar LinX, and araabMUZIK are currently all on tour together, dates are listed below. Zeds Dead has also been announced to play Colorado’s largest three day EDM festival, Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks.
